Two new non-executive directors have been appointed to the board of Trustees Executors, effective immediately. Murray King and Dennis Church join non-executive chair James Douglas, and the board brings together expertise spanning corporate trustee operations, debt capital markets, securitisation, and financial services governance.
All three directors are independent, reflecting the high institutional standards expected of a specialist corporate trustee and statutory supervision business that holds supervisory responsibility for complex, regulated structures on behalf of New Zealand investors.
Following a February transaction, Trustees Executors is now part of the New Zealand-owned Perpetual Guardian Group, the country's largest and most comprehensive fiduciary services Group.
King was a partner in the banking and financial services department of Bell Gully for 24 years and remained as a consultant for a further two years. He has broad experience across all aspects of debt capital markets and is a recognised expert in the securitisation field. During his legal career, King advised leading statutory supervisors on both wholesale and retail debt issues and securitisation transactions.
Church is an experienced senior executive in the financial services industry with more than 30 years' experience, including as General Manager for two corporate trustee businesses. His expertise includes the supervision of a wide range of securities and financial products, from KiwiSaver and superannuation schemes to debt securities, securitised assets, covered bonds, retirement villages, and marinas. He has worked as a share broker and as a management consultant with an international consultancy.
Trustees Executors board chair James Douglas says, "Church and King bring the depth and range of expertise this board needs. Church has spent more than 30 years at the heart of corporate trustee businesses and has hands-on experience supervising the full range of products and structures our clients rely on.
"King is a nationally recognised authority in debt capital markets and securitisation, a strategically important area for Trustees Executors as we grow our presence in that market. Together, they give us a board that is highly current in skills and capability and ready to support the business as it enters its next chapter."
Perpetual Guardian Group CEO Patrick Gamble says, "Since bringing Trustees Executors into our Group, we have found that its existing clients value it highly – for good reason. The team runs a disciplined, well-managed operation with strong supervisory and governance practices. Our job now is to make that more visible to the wider market.
"We are committed to governance independence, and this independent board, well-resourced by our Group, with the deep institutional knowledge and client relationships that Trustees Executors carries, is a compelling proposition for any fund manager, issuer, or institution that needs a specialist supervisor or corporate trustee they can genuinely rely on."
Established in 1881, Trustees Executors Limited oversees the supervision of client investment assets in excess of $200 billion, serving fund managers, issuers, and institutions across managed investment schemes, debt capital markets, securitisation programmes, and corporate trust arrangements.
