New hires boost client and wealth teams at Pie Funds

Pie Funds has added to its Auckland team with the appointments of Dan Bell as Head of Client Relations and Michelle Preston as Wealth Associate.

Thursday, July 17th 2025, 8:09AM

Pie’s new Head of Client Relations Dan Bell is an experienced financial services leader with a strong background in sales and distribution leadership across New Zealand, Australia and North America.

His career includes senior roles at HiFX and Xe.com, Strategi Group and Squirrel, where he led high-performing teams and drove significant growth. He brings a passion for markets and investing, deep experience in building third-party channels, a strong customer-centric lens and proven success in go-to-market execution.

Newly appointed Wealth Associate Michelle Preston brings extensive experience in financial services, legal, compliance, and governance. She began her career as a solicitor with Kensington Swan and later held senior roles at ING, ANZ Wealth, BNZ and Westpac.

Earlier this month Matthew Jones-Molyneux also joined Pie as an Operations Analyst in its Product and Operations team, based in Auckland. Prior to joining Pie Matt was a Senior Investment Services Analyst at JB Were NZ and previously worked for Evelyn Partners and the Bank of New York in the UK.

Pie Funds CEO Ana-Marie Lockyer says the new appointments, together with two Sydney-based hires announced earlier this month, reflect the company’s growth momentum.

“It’s exciting bringing new people on board because it’s a clear sign we’re growing. Investing in our client relations, wealth management, investment and operations teams enables us to continually build our capabilities in these essential areas and together deliver the great long term outcomes our clients expect of us.”
