Andrew Blair

Andrew Blair has been appointed as a non-executive director of nib NZ, effective 25 August 2025. He will succeed Hanne Janes as chairman on 1 November 2025.

Blair is currently serving as director of Evolution Healthcare Group and Queenstown Airport Corporation. He is founder and director of Andrew Blair Consulting, which advises and negotiates sales of health specialist businesses.

His previous roles include executive chair of Southern Cross CLT Hospital, a joint venture operating an independent hospital in Queenstown, and director of Waitaki District Healthcare Services, responsible for Oamaru Hospital operations.

Blair has chaired Capital & Coast District Health Board, which has an annual budget exceeding $1.2 billion and more than 6,200 employees, and Hutt Valley District Health Board.

He has also advised Forte Health Ltd, BreastScreen Auckland and St Marks Women's Health.

In 1995, Blair was appointed general manager of Royston Hospital.

nib Holdings chairman David Gordon said Blair "brings very deep commercial and governance experience to nib's New Zealand Board," and has been chief executive of a listed company with clear knowledge of public policy through advocacy roles.

Janes, who served on the nib NZ board since 2016 and was appointed chair in March 2024, is stepping down in line with nib's group board renewal policy.

"Andrew has extensive business experience and established stakeholder networks in New Zealand, crossing private and public sectors," Janes said. "I look forward to working with him in the transition period."

Gordon thanked Janes for helping "nib NZ grow, diversify and prosper" during her tenure.
