Residents fight truck depot plans

Appleby residents are vowing to fight plans to shift a truck depot on to a busy intersection near Richmond, saying it will put schoolchildren at risk and flouts planning rules.

Richmond's Stuart Drummond Transport has applied for consent to relocate its McPherson St depot off Beach Rd to farm land on the southern corner of Lower Queen St and Swamp Rd.

The depot will cover 1.4ha with an office, workshop and truck wash.
