Almost 600 advisers take wellbeing survey

Almost 600 Kiwi financial advisers have filled out a wellbeing survey aimed at assessing the mental health of people in the industry.

Tuesday, October 12th 2021, 12:42PM

The Adviser Wellbeing Research survey was carried out over the past three weeks and aims to understand the current state of mental health of Kiwi financial advisers, explore the habits and attitudes of those advisers who are currently experiencing positive mental wellbeing, and understand the mindsets and behaviours needed to evolve and manage significant market disruptions.

The research is being done by Sydney-based researcher Dr Adam Fraser, founder of The e-lab, and Dr John Molineux. AIA NZ is sponsoring the research and will make the findings available to the industry.

A total of 586 people filled out the survey that closed on Monday.

"This is an outstanding result, and one that will ensure a good cross section of the New Zealand adviser market is represented in the report findings when they are released to the market in February," AIA NZ chief partnership insurance officer Sam Tremethick says.

“As sponsor of the project, and together with researchers Dr Adam Fraser and Dr John Molineux, we genuinely thank everyone who has taken the time to complete the survey and shared their experiences, and also those who have supported this research in the market.

"We look forward to sharing the findings with you all and better understanding the mental health and wellbeing of New Zealand’s adviser community.”
