NZ sharemarket continues see-sawing, down 0.5%
One day up and the next day down. That’s been the story of the New Zealand sharemarket lately as it dipped more than 0.5%, while Mainfreight and Goodman Property Trust posted steady half-year results.
It was all downhill from the opening for the S&P/NZX 50 Index and it closed at 12,674.49, down 74.87 points or 0.59%.
There were 33.9 million share transactions worth $148.05m.
'Recovery'
Paul Robertshawe, chief investment officer with Octagon Asset Management, said NZ was decoupled from the United States markets and was driven by interest rates.

Fidelity lays out bold new growth plans
Fidelity Life has laid out bold new growth plans, a year after admitting it had dropped the ball with advisers.
Chief executive Campbell Mitchell told around 200 delegates at the company’s Engage conference in Auckland yesterday that it plans to be a $1 billion company in eight year’s time.
