New book: Risk Management and Insurance in New Zealand

Massey University lecturer Michael Naylor has written a book on insurance specifically tailored to the New Zealand market.

Massey University lecturer Michael Naylor has written a book on insurance specifically tailored to the New Zealand market.

Naylor says it is first book written for those studying or working in the New Zealand insurance industry and will equally serve those seeking to better understand their insurance needs and buy cover.

Until now the need for information has been satisfied - poorly for this country - by US-based texts. The focus of the book is on personal risk - health, accident, retirement, death, etc - facing individuals and families.

The 'risk management approach' explains the correct procedures for assessing the optimal type and level of insurance cover for insurance seekers.

Topics covered include:

  • The nature of risk
  • Insurance pricing
  • The industry
  • Regulation
  • The legal system and contract insurance law
  • Life insurance
  • Estate planning
  • Retirement risk
  • Disability, accident and medical insurance
Risk Management and Insurance in New Zealand, is now available through the Good Returns bookstore.
