Ballantyne considers joining dealer group

UPDATED AND EXCLUSIVE: Naomi Ballantyne, who finished up as ING Life managing director last week, has joined the board of an another insurance provider and is looking to join the board of dealer group Newpark as an independent director.

Wednesday, September 9th 2009, 3:35PM

Ballantyne joined the board of health insurance provider Accuro on Monday.

Accuro is a not-for-profit organisation which offers health insurance cover. It is headed by former AXA general manager of marketing Ruth Colenso.

Accuro has been enhancing its products and policies and was rated number one in the health care market for its its hospital and surgical policies by Consumer. Strategy has also given the firm's policies an A plus.

Ballantyne also confirmed she is in discussions with Newpark about taking up a position on its board, however nothing has been formalised yet.

Newpark managing director Darren Gannon says the board, which will be in charge of making strategic decisions, will include himself, Mark Morgan Kemp, Scott Wilson and Andrew Smith.

Ballantyne says she is working on plans for a new business and it will be in financial services industry as that is where her expertise and knowledge is.

She says it won’t be a broker-dealer group as some rumours suggest, nor will it be another product provider.
