Asteron was named life insurance company of the year at  the ANZIIF Insurance industry awards last night.

Executive Manager Marketing and Product Don Allerston described the awards as "enormously humbling for our business" and paid tribute to Sovereign for keeping the bar so high in the industry.

He said the award is a reflection on the improvements Asteron had made to its business and its focus on customer service and claims management.

Allerston said Asteron was sincere about "delivering sustainable solutions to our industry."

He thanks advisers "who without their support we wouldn'tbe here."

Asteron was also a finalist in the claims service provider of the year award, coming second to loss adjusting and claim management company Cunningham Lindsay.

Lifetime Insurance group was a finalist in the small/medium broking company of the year catergory coming second to ICIB, a firm which operates in the industrial and commercial sectors.
