Monday, February 12th 2024, 11:20AM

nib New Zealand has appointed Josephine Gagan and Sophie Haslem as non-executive directors to its board.

Gagan is chair of the New Zealand Health Group; on the board of the Auckland Hospital Foundation, and Chair of the Minds for Minds Trust. She was group chief executive of the New Zealand Health Group Limited, and for more than two decades, she was chief executive and owner of Geneva Healthcare, based in Auckland.

She is a leading sector strategist within healthcare. Her skills include leadership management, workforce diversity and strategic management in the healthcare sector.

Haslem is current chair at Kordia Group and is deputy chair at CentrePort. She is also on the board of Rangatira, Payments New Zealand, Livestock Improvement Corporation. Haslem was also on the board of Ngai Tahi Holdings Corporations, an investment company managing more than $2 billion in tribal assets.

She has more than 25-years of broad commercial experience working across large corporations and early-stage growth companies. She has worked in corporate and investment banking, management consulting and spent more than a decade at New Zealand Post in key executive roles. Her experience includes governance, extensive mergers and acquisitions, business strategy and technology.

“I am very pleased to welcome Josephine and Sophie to the board,” chairman Tony Ryall said. “Their professional and personal experience brings broad and new perspectives to our board, and those perspectives align with nib Group values and our business strategy,” he said.

The appointments reflect nib’s commitment to board renewal. As part of the board’s ongoing succession planning, Jacqueline Chow stepped down from the nib NZ board last year. She remains an independent non-executive director on the nib Group board.
